H2020 Success stories
Here are some examples of successful Brussels participation in EU-funded Research and Innovation programmes, namely Horizon 2020, the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP).
Bruxelles-Environnement & H2020 innovation project BAMB
The regional public organisation Bruxelles-Environnement coordinated the H2020 innovation project BAMB between 2015 and 2019. BAMB developed tools to increase the value of circular buildings and building materials fostering waste reduction and reuse, in relation also with the Brussels Capital Region circular economy Action Plan. The BAMB project is listed among 16 successful projects selected as examples for the Green Deal call. As explained by Caroline Henrotay and Molly Steinalge, project coordinators “The NCP Brussels has offered valuable guidance during the project preparation and the drafting of the proposal by helping us identify the weak points of the proposal and improve the project description to meet the EU call and programme requirements in the best possible way.”
Brussels performance in the EIC Accelerator
Proud to announce a second winner from Brussels in the EIC Accelerator Pilot this year. MoveUp has just been selected for funding for their project “EXPANSE” that will contribute to the fight against the COVID-19. 3.969 projects from 45 countries were submitted to the EIC Accelerator Pilot by the cut-off date on 20 March. 181 SMEs were invited to the e-interviews at the European Commission from 11 to 20 May, including 3 Brussels-based companies. Only 72 projects have finally been selected for funding, and MoveUp is the only Belgian company awarded among the 36 companies selected from the COVID-list.
Furthermore, 818 Seals of Excellence (of which 139 COVID-19 related) will be awarded by European Commissioners Mariya Gabriel and Elisa Ferreira, including 9 Brussels-based companies!
Congratulations to our start-ups and SMEs!
Usitoo
“We received excellent, thorough, and timely feedback on a draft proposal that we submitted to Horizon 2020 in September 2019. The process of arranging the review in advance was very straightforward, and our NCP communicated quickly and clearly. We incorporated her detailed suggestions into our proposal, which was ultimately awarded a Seal of excellence”.

June was a very successful month for NCP Brussels. One of the companies we have been advising on the SME Instrument, 3E, was selected for Phase II funding and will soon receive nearly 2 million euros in order to rapidly accelerate the industrial maturity of their latest software product (SynaptiQ Building) by scaling the business and further improve their product.
