WomenTechEU to support 134 female-led deep-tech companies

The Commission has just announced the results of the second WomenTechEU call, targeting innovative European deep-tech companies founded by women. The Green Shot, a Brussels participant, made it on the list

After a successful pilot in 2022, WomenTechEU launched a second call to boost innovation in Europe’s female-led deep-tech sector. This second edition of WomenTechEU attracted a record number of applications, which a panel of independent experts then evaluated. Almost three times as many companies got selected this year compared to the pilot.

The call in figures

• an increased budget of €10 million
• 467 applications
  • from 35 Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries
• 134 companies selected for funding
  • from 26 different countries
  • 14% of companies based in countries associated to Horizon Europe
  • 15% from Horizon Europe widening countries
• individual grants of €75.000

Funded under the European Innovation Ecosystems work programme, the selected companies will receive grants to support their innovation process and growth. Furthermore, all female founders are offered mentoring and coaching under the European Innovation Council (EIC) Women Leadership Programme, and dedicated networking opportunities across the EU.

A success story made in Brussels

The Green Shot, a Brussels-based company, got selected for funding. It helps TV series and film productions to become more sustainable with an automated and integrated solution. Their app computes and reports carbon footprints in real time and offers alternative solutions and providers to enable production teams to act more sustainably.

Our very own NCPs Kardelen Kala and Frédéric Suche highlighted this opportunity to The Green Shot CEO Véronique Pevtschin. They gave support along this journey by reviewing the company’s proposal, suggesting improvements and providing useful insights on the call.
