European Commission launches consultations on post-2030 energy framework
Opened on 20 March 2026, these consultations aim to gather input from businesses, public authorities, and citizens on how to strengthen Europe’s transition towards a climate-neutral and competitive economy.
The energy efficiency consultation explores how to further reduce energy consumption, building on existing EU measures and targets. In parallel, the renewable energy consultation looks at how to accelerate the deployment of clean energy, improve system integration, and address ongoing challenges such as permitting and infrastructure.
The feedback collected will contribute to upcoming legislative proposals expected later this year and will play a key role in defining the EU’s energy and climate strategy for the next decade.
Stakeholders are invited to contribute until 12 June 2026.
