Horizon Europe Energy: over EUR 300 million available to fund new energy research projects
The European Commission has launched new calls for projects under Horizon Europe’s 2025 Work Programme for Cluster 5.
A total of EUR 318 million in EU funding is available under call HORIZON-CL5-2026 that covers 2 Destinations and 20 topics:
- Sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply (HORIZON-CL5-2026-02-D3).
- Efficient, sustainable and inclusive energy use (HORIZON-CL5-2026-02-D4).
Deadline: 17 February 2026.
Background
Horizon Europe is the EU’s ambitious research and innovation programme for 2021-2027, with a budget of EUR 95.5 billion. CINEA runs parts of the programme targeting energy, climate action and mobility research actions, grouped into Cluster 5.
The overarching driver for this cluster is to accelerate the twin green and digital transitions and associated transformation of our economy, industry and society with a view to achieving climate neutrality in Europe by 2050, and to increase the competitiveness of the European economies.
