EDITORIAL 31.07.2015 – Transport is on the brink of a new era of “smart mobility” –
In order to achieve efficiency at system-level, targeted efforts are needed to strengthen the competitiveness of our transport. Research is at the core of developing new technologies for greener, smarter, more efficient transports and more sustainable and inclusive mobility
Horizon 2020 provides funding for a resource efficient transport that respects the environment by developing smart equipment, infrastructures and services and by improving transport and mobility in urban areas.
The next work programme will be published soon and it will aim at the development of new solutions that can be rapidly deployed. Substantial improvements are envisaged in the mobility of people and freight; by testing and validate new concepts of freight transport and logistics and by reducing accident rates, fatalities and casualties and improving security.
