How is Brussels performing in Horizon Europe?

Our latest Statistical Report provides an updated overview of the participation of Brussels-based organisations in Horizon Europe since the start of the programme.

Developed jointly by hub.brussels’ Research BU and NCP Brussels, the report provides a detailed picture of Brussels’ performance in the programme.

The figures confirm the region’s strong performance: between 2021 and February 2026, Brussels-based organisations secured €1.4 billion in EU funding through 3,390 participations, representing 45% of all Belgian participations in Horizon Europe.

The report also highlights the dynamism of Brussels SMEs: 132 SMEs received a total of €159 million, accounting for 81% of the funding awarded to the region’s private sector. In addition, €979 million was allocated to projects addressing the Brussels-Capital Region’s priority areas, as defined in its Regional Innovation Plan 2021–2027.

These results illustrate Brussels’ continued success in securing competitive European funding and contributing to cutting-edge research and innovation across Europe.
